Me in 10 seconds

7th grade computer science educator. Math origin. Embracer of challenges. Philosopher in the classroom. Game strategist. Lifelong learner. Seeker of difficult paths. Problem-solver. Curiosity-driven. Always open to new perspectives.

About Me

I'm a 7th grade computer science educator with a background in math. My teaching journey took an exciting turn when I accepted a position that combined math with robotics and automation. Despite not having a computer science degree, I embraced this challenge, turning my classroom into a space where programming meets philosophy.

Inspired by my favorite high school class, "Dilemmas," I introduce my students to 44 core philosophies using ethical puzzles and personal stories. One key philosophy: there is no SPEED LIMIT to learning.

My approach to life and teaching is about taking the road less traveled, seeking out challenges that promise greater satisfaction. I'm a problem-solver at heart, whether it's in complex game worlds or in my classroom.

I believe in the potential to learn from everyone and everything, constantly seeking different perspectives and new lessons. My goal is to instill in my students not just knowledge, but a love for learning, critical thinking, and the courage to explore the unknown.

What I'm Doing Now

I'm entering my 9th year teaching at Highlands, focusing on 7th grade computer science. I'm exploring ways to blend travel, my love for my dog, and engaging computer science teaching methods. I recently returned from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

I'm enjoying the crisp fall weather with my wife. We've already switched our apartment decor from summer to fall, embracing the season a bit early.

My Stance on AI

I believe in using AI to solve problems efficiently. While it's not yet changing the world dramatically, I find it helpful and enjoy using it. This page was co-written with Claude, an AI assistant.
